An Ashley-Manor Fall Wedding: Meghan and Ryan

November 27, 2018

On August 13, 2016 most of our community was under water. On that day, we were all in search of higher ground. It was a normal site to see rescue teams, personal kayaks, and people everywhere wading through the water carrying backpacks of wallets, clothes, and sippy cups. We ended up staying at one of the only “shelters” in town, Live Oak Church. At the time I had twin two year olds and I was 39 weeks pregnant with Joe. Long story short, our “shelter roommates” were another family of young kiddos. We quickly bonded over trying to keep our toddlers happy, keeping our family safe, and conversations of not knowing what we would go back home to. This family, even though they didn’t know it at the time, gave us peace and hope and inspiration. We shared sandwiches the church passed around, and their little girl played with our twins! We quickly bonded. After we went our separate ways, the flood craziness passed, and everyone was rebuilding… I made it my goal to find Jennifer and Walt. Just to make sure they were okay and that their dog (who they had to leave at home) survived and was safe! I FINALLY found them thanks to my FBI skills of Facebook stalking! To this day, their family has a special place in my heart!

Fast forward: Jennifer’s younger two sisters got engaged! And because of the terrible circumstances that The Great Flood of 2016 created, we were able to reunite again, not once, but TWICE! It was SO awesome to witness and capture Mandy, and then later Meghan get married!

This past Saturday, Meghan and Ryan became husband and wife! He LOST it when he first saw her walk down the aisle. It was the sweetest moment of the night!

“The Duke Sisters”— I absolutely love this family.

Meghan and Ryan,

I am still so thankful for the way our paths have crossed, and love the beauty that came out of the broken. Every single bride deserves to have a man that looks at her the way Ryan looks at you. You guys have been the sweetest couple, not only to work with, but to know and call my friends. Your wedding was AMAZING and couldn’t have gone better. I am so happy for you guys!!

xoxo,

Brittany and Thomas
